Bergen op Zoom (the Netherlands), Uzwil (Switzerland), June 20, 2019 – Last week, Protix opened its new, 14,000 square meter facility, making it the largest processing plant for insects worldwide. It is proof that insects have become a viable protein source for sustainable animal feed. Bühler is proud to have supported Protix in reaching this milestone. In order to create a major impact on the sustainability of the global supply of protein, many more plants need to be built across the globe following this pioneering effort.
Uzwil (Switzerland), May 25, 2022 - Bühler Group is officially opening its world-class Insect Technology Center (ITC). Located in Uzwil, Switzerland, the facility brings together Bühler’s expertise and the best infrastructure to help the industry to further develop. In the ITC, Bühler and its customers can conduct larvae growth trials with various feedstock, develop product samples, evaluate breed solutions, and run trainings. The ITC, which obtained funding from Switzerland’s Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) due to its contribution to a more sustainable food system, is already in operation.
Uzwil (Switzerland), March 5, 2019 – Bühler Insect Technology Solutions, a pioneering provider of integrated solutions for insect rearing and processing, is combining its strengths with Alfa Laval, a world leader in heat transfer, separation and fluid handling. Together, they will offer advanced modular insect plant solutions to the booming insect industry.
Uzwil (Switzerland), Rethel (France), December 16, 2021 – French insect producer Agronutris has chosen Bühler Group as its process solution provider for its first commercial scale black soldier fly plant. Bühler will deliver a full-scope solution for the facility, which will be built in Rethel, France. This collaboration is a major milestone for both organizations. It reinforces Bühler’s commitment to ambitious targets that will help mitigate climate change and build a more sustainable food system and supports Agronutris’ goal to establish itself as a world leader for sustainable nutrition. The plant is planned to go into operation in 2023.
